I teach undergraduate and graduate piano majors at the CSULB Bob Cole Conservatory of Music. The conservatory offers regular performance opportunities, an intimate and friendly learning environment, considerable access to faculty and guest artists, significant scholarships, and teaching opportunities and mentorship for graduate students. If you are interested in applying to the piano program at CSULB, or if you would like to schedule a trial lesson, email me at samuel.grodin@csulb.edu.
I also teach a small group of exceptional pre-college students at the Colburn School in Los Angeles and in my home studio in Long Beach. I equip pre-college students with a strong artistic and technical foundation that will enable them to pursue music professionally if they so choose. To learn more about joining my private studio, please contact me at samgrodin@gmail.com.
I also enjoy working with professional and pre-professional pianists who feel that they have hit a roadblock, whether it be excessive tension, fatigue, injury, or the inability to create a wide variety of sounds or meaningful interpretations. My pedagogy is informed by, but not limited to, the work of F. M. Alexander and Dorothy Taubman. If you are interested in learning more, please contact me at samgrodin@gmail.com.
